There's a lot going on with Hyundai at the moment, so it's a pretty exciting time for the brand. At this week's Chicago Auto Show the focus is on the refreshed 2018 Sonata Hybrid and PHEV, which are looking to breathe a little new life into the somewhat underappreciated Sonata family.
Along the same lines as the rest of the lineup, the front and rear fascias are where the most obvious updates have occurred. The grille has been paid particular attention during the refresh, and is now more shapely and modern than its predecessor. The fog light recesses have been altered so they're now a little more aggressive than they were, and they nicely complement the headlights that are new LED units. Some new wheel designs have also been brought in to complete the exterior changes. Also Read: Mahindra UDO and ATOM Electric Concept First Look Video at Auto Expo 2018!
The enhancements are not purely reserved for the exterior either. In the cabin there's a new steering wheel with a nicely revised instrument cluster sitting behind it. The infotainment system has also been upgraded, which is something automakers now have to do on an increasingly regular basis to keep up with the latest technological developments. The navigation gets a new overhead perspective, and there's also now a Qi charging pad if navigation is specified when the vehicle is ordered.
Safety features enjoy a particularly strong focus this time around too, with the likes of blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane change assist all now becoming part of standard equipment. Although not standard, automatic emergency braking and lane keep assist are now added as options for both of these models.
