WWE Undisputed Champion Cody Rhodes has voiced his desire to compete in an Iron Man match against Seth Rollins. Speaking to Inside The Ropes, Rhodes discussed his first run in the WWE where Rollins was his first opponent on the main roster. The American Nightmare also talked about his feud with The Shield. He then praised the ex-Heavyweight Champion’s in-ring ability while hoping he could face him again. “I’d love to do … he [Seth Rollins] is such a great in-ring wrestler, in addition to all the other things he is – if I had to go 60 minutes with anybody, I’d certainly like to test myself with somebody like him in an Iron Man setting,” he said.
Cody Rhodes also highlighted that he wasn’t completely sure if the WWE fans wanted to see him in another bout with Seth Rollins. Rhodes added how he was quite satisfied with his previous clashes against his wrestling co-star. “But, again, I don’t know if anybody wants to see another one. We really did good with the three we had,” he said.
Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins have come a long way in the WWE, starting from the bottom to eventually headlining WrestleMania on multiple occasions. The wrestling duo have nothing but respect for each other and it was evident from Rhodes’ recent interview. The American Nightmare further commended Rollins by saying how he was the ‘MVP’ at this year’s WrestleMania which was held in April. “Look at WrestleMania 40, in a sense of, you know, Seth the MVP of that event,” he said.
Cody Rhodes also talked about how he was impressed with Seth Rollins bearing the company’s flag all these years. “And I think sometimes when you’re the base of something or when you are maybe its biggest cheerleader and the guy who’s blown the horn and waving the flag like Seth had been for WWE — probably as in terms of outspokenness more than anybody – I think those matches…I don’t think I realized how important they were at the time,” Rhodes concluded.
Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes were on the same team during WrestleMania 40. They squared off against the Samoan duo of Roman Reigns and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson on Night 1 of the Show of Shows. Rhodes and Rollins failed to win the tag-team competition leading to several doubts about the American Nightmare’s chances in the main event. However, Rhodes overcame all odds to win the Undisputed Championship against Reigns on the wrestling promotion’s biggest event of the year.
