Top advisor of Donald Trump has virtually ruled out the possibility that GOP rival Vivek Ramaswamy would be the Vice President pick if the former US President returns to office, despite finding support for this prospect among Republicans.
Trump aide Jason Miller indicated that voters could “probably” exclude the Indian American candidate as the ex-president’s running mate. This comes after Trump unleashed his biggest attack on him last week, accusing Ramaswamy of being “sly,” and having “deceitful campaign tricks” on Truth Social.
“Pretty safe to say it won’t be Vivek,” Miller told the New York Post. Asked about the former president’s rant against Ramaswamy on Saturday, Ramaswamy’s campaign pointed The Post to their candidate’s later statement on X saying he would not “criticise [Trump] in response to this late attack.”
The youngest GOP candidate has previously said he is not a “plan B person,” while Trump said in August that Ramaswamy could be a “very good” vice president. On Sunday, Trump and his campaign labeled Ramaswamy as a “fraud” and “conman,” warning his supporters against backing the biotech entrepreneur.

In a TruthSocial post, Trump uurged supporters not to vote for Ramaswamy, claiming it would benefit the “other side.” The shift in approach by Trump, according to The New York Times, suggests a strategic calculation by his campaign, indicating a perception that Ramaswamy may be gaining some support from Trump’s base.
Ramaswamy, a defender of Trump throughout the 2024 presidential run, has criticised other GOP opponents for lacking sufficient support for Trump. Since the start of his presidential campaign, Ramaswamy has been a staunch backer of Trump and promised to pardon him if elected.
After the top Colorado court banned Trump from the ballot, Ramaswamy pledged to withdraw from the ballot and encouraged other Republican contenders to do the same. Even Trump was all praise for Ramaswamy when he declared him the winner of the fourth GOP debate last month.
Ramaswamy has described Trump’s criticism as “an unfortunate move by his campaign advisors.” “Yes, I saw President Trump’s Truth Social post. It’s an unfortunate move by his campaign advisors, I don’t think friendly fire is helpful. Donald Trump was the greatest President of the 21st century, and I’m not going to criticize him in response to this late attack,” he wrote on X.
