Moscow: Russian investigators on Tuesday flew out to Turkey to help probe the killing of the country's ambassador in Ankara Andrei Karlov, the Kremlin told local news agencies.
"Eighteen people will work in the group. The group will act in Turkey within the framework of the investigation into the murder," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, adding that leaders Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan had agreed the move in a phone call yesterday.
The incident evoked memories of an attack in Nice, France in July when a Tunisian-born man drove a 19-tonne truck along the beach front, mowing down people who had gathered to watch the fireworks on Bastille Day, killing 86 people. That attack was claimed by Islamic State.
