Mossad, CIA, Shin Bet Chiefs Huddle in Egypt to Discuss 6-Week Ceasefire, Hostage Release Plan
Israeli media outlets reported that Israeli spy agencies are headed to Cairo because of US pressure to agree on a deal that halts the Gaza war and ensures release of hostages.

Israel will send a delegation to Cairo led by Mossad, Shin Bet heads on Tuesday to discuss the framework that will see the release of hostages and achieve an extended pause to the war in Gaza.

Mossad is Israel’s foreign spy agency and Shin Bet handles internal security.

A report by the Times of Israel said that Israel is sending a delegation to Cairo after being pressured by the US. The US President Joe Biden hosted Jordanian king Abdullah this week and discussed the implementation of a six-week long ceasefire which will see release of all the hostages held in Gaza by Palestinian terrorist group Hamas.

“We cannot afford an Israeli attack on Rafah. It is certain to produce another humanitarian catastrophe. We cannot stand by and let this continue. We need a lasting ceasefire now — this war must end,” the Jordanian monarch Abdullah said.

“All attacks against innocent civilians, women and children, including those of October 7, cannot be accepted by any Muslim. As I have previously stressed, we must make sure the horrors of the past few months since October 7, are never repeated, nor accepted by any human being,” he further added.

The meeting which will take place in Cairo will be attended by CIA Director Bill Burns, his Israeli counterpart David Barnea of the Mossad, Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al Thani, who also serves as foreign minister and Egyptian intelligence chief Abbas Kamel. Shin Bet director Ronen Bar will also attend the meeting.

The parties will resume negotiations on the three-phase deal which was planned by CIA Director Bill Burns, his Israeli counterpart David Barnea of the Mossad, Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al Thani and Egyptian intelligence chief Abbas Kamel.

During the proposed three-phase humanitarian pause, the initial six-week phase would see the release of 35 to 40 Israeli hostages, including women, men over 60, and individuals with severe medical conditions. Subsequent phases would involve the release of Israeli soldiers and the bodies of deceased hostages. Further details on these phases, as well as the potential release of Palestinian security prisoners by Israel, would be subject to discussion in subsequent negotiations if both parties agreed to the Paris proposal.
