Pope Francis Becomes 1st Pontiff To Address G7 Nations
Pope Francis has became the first pontiff to address the Group of Seven (G7) Summit. He is expected to use the occasion to join the countries and global bodies pushing for stronger guardrails on artificial intelligence (AI).
The pope, in his annual peace message this year, called for an international treaty to ensure AI is developed and used ethnically. He also argued that a technology lacking human values of compassion, mercy, morality and forgiveness is too perilous to develop unchecked.
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni invited Francis, knowing the potential impact of his star power and moral authority to twin a broadly shared concern about AI with his priorities about peace and social justice.
