A 25-year-old veterinary student from Andhra Pradesh was killed in a car crash in the US state of Oklahoma on July 20.
Jetti Harika, who had moved to the U.S. for postgraduate studies, was among the victims of a multi-vehicle accident on Highway 74 in Logan County.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported that a driver lost control due to poor weather conditions, leading to the collision. The tragic news has sent shockwaves through the Telugu community in both the U.S. and India.
Harika’s family, including her father, Jetty Srinivasa Rao, and mother, Nagamani, are working with the Indian Embassy to arrange for her body to be returned to Tenali for final rites.
“We are completely heartbroken by this sudden loss. Our priority right now is to get Harika home and perform the final rites,” a relative of Harika was quoted as saying by an Indian news channel.
