In Madhya Pradesh, an attempted burglary at a gym took an unexpected turn when the intruder found himself burning calories on a treadmill instead of stealing valuables. Yes, you read that right. The incident reportedly occurred in the middle of the night when the thief slipped under the shutter door of the gym and began exploring potential items to steal. However, he was unaware that CCTV cameras were monitoring his every move.
Upon discovering the footage late at night, the owner, who was asleep at home, rushed to the scene and caught the surprised thief red-handed. Rather than immediately contacting the police, the vigilant owner opted to administer punishment by making the intruder run on the treadmill.
The clip begins with the thief stealthily entering the gym in darkness and searching for valuable items to steal. Subsequently, the footage captures the intruder running on the treadmill, appearing visibly exhausted from the rigorous “punishment". The gym owner is seen pushing him to keep running. After imparting a valuable lesson, the owner apprehends the thief and hands him over to the authorities.
In the past, there have been numerous incidents where thieves were caught in the act. One hilarious incident that made headlines involved a burglar who was found peacefully sleeping in an air-conditioned room he intended to rob. According to police reports, the man was heavily drunk and fell asleep inside the house after discovering an AC in Lucknow. The residence belonged to Dr Sunil Pandey, who was absent at the time of the incident. He was residing in Varanasi. Upon noticing the unlocked door, vigilant neighbours promptly alerted the police.
Speaking with India Today, DCP North Zone R Vijay Shankar explained, “He was heavily drunk because of which he fell asleep and could not wake up. It was reported by the neighbours, after which he was arrested." When the police arrived, the intruder was found sleeping on the floor, with a pillow and phone in his hand.
