Saurabh also played in the Indian team for the U-19 World Cup in 2010 alongside KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal, Jaydev Unadkat, and others.

Earlier this month, the United States of America announced their team for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The country that is all set to host the tournament this year revealed the names of their 15-member squad, most of which included Indian players, including Captain Monank Patel. To everyone’s surprise, an Oracle techie has discovered one of his colleagues on the T20 squad for the USA. Employed as a software engineer, Chirag took to the microblogging platform to share his surprising realisation.

“Just found out in my company there is a guy who played Under 19 Cricket World Cup for India back in 2010 and now lives in US works in Oracle and gonna be playing T20 WC next month for USA!” he wrote.

For the unversed, the player in question is none other than the 32-year-old Saurabh Netravalkar, who is famously known for juggling his job and his cricket career in the USA. Meanwhile, the social media post garnered a lot of attention, prompting reactions from many. A user wrote, “Just looked him up on Slack and couldn’t believe it,” while another commented, “How does someone not know Saurabh Netravalkar?”

“Netravalkar has been a famous guy for a few years now and you are finding him now? There was even an article on him that mentioned about his day job in Oracle, another wrote, while a user commented, “That’s incredible! It’s always fascinating to discover diverse backgrounds and talents.” Ever since it was shared, the tweet has earned over 700,000 views along with more than 8,000 likes and several comments.

Who is Saurabh Netravalkar?

At the prime age of 23, Saurabh Netravalkar made a crucial choice between his dream and engineering, taking the call to pursue his education in the US and leaving cricket. This was just two years after his debut in the Mumbai Ranji Trophy in 2013. Prior to that, Saurabh also played in the Indian team for the U-19 World Cup in 2010 alongside KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal, Jaydev Unadkat, and others.

However, it wasn’t long before the software engineer found a way to start his game again and went on to captain the US national team. His current LinkedIn profile reads, “Principal Member of Technical Staff at Oracle and Professional Cricketer at the USA Cricket.”
