Man Claims Elon Musk 'Never Really Wanted To Be A CEO', The Tesla Boss Agrees
Musk is the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX and the CTO and Executive Chairman of X (formerly Twitter).

Elon Musk is one of the most famous and wealthy entrepreneurs in the world today. He owns and runs some of the most technologically advanced companies be it clean energy automotive company Tesla, space research agency SpaceX including social media platform X (formerly Twitter). Everything about Musk’s impressive career trajectory shows that he had aspired to great heights ever since he was a teenager. But, recently an X user claimed that Musk never wanted to be a CEO. Interestingly, Musk also responded to this post with a shocking claim.

On Thursday, an X user shared an old photo of Musk where he can be seen working on a computer. The X user captioned this photo, “Elon Musk used to rewrite code of engineers working at Zip2 after they went home, and used to work 120 hours a week. He never really wanted to be a CEO.” As this post got over two lakh likes in less than a day, Musk commented on it and simply wrote, “True”.

Amidst the showers of praise on this post, many people pointed out that the claim of working 120 hours a week seems infeasible. Working 120 in a week means working over 17 hours. An X user wrote, “There are only 168 hours in the week, meaning that on average per day there would only be around 7 hours of non-working time left. So he spent the rest of his 7 hours per day sleeping without time for literally anything else?”

Another commented, “That’s a heavy load to carry for sure. It’s essential to remember that balance is key in all things, even in pursuit of success. Working excessive hours can lead to burnout and have negative effects on productivity and well-being. It’s great that Elon has shown dedication, but everyone deserves time for rest and personal fulfillment. Life is more than just work. It’s about finding that sweet spot where passion meets sustainability. Let’s all strive for a healthier approach to achieving our goals.”

Musk is not new to coding or computer programming. In his biography written by Walter Isaacson, it is claimed that when Musk was 13, he taught himself how to use Pascal and Turbo C++. He made a video game called Blastar, which he then sold to a magazine for USD 500.

Musk’s first business venture in 1995 was Global Link Information Network, which was later renamed to Zip2. The company made an Internet city guide with maps, and directions. It was acquired by Compaq in 1999 and Musk received $22 million for his 7 percent share.
