Indian umpire, Saidarshan Kumar's childhood friend shares a heartfelt post after his recent appearance in IPL 2024: 'He has been a great inspiration'.

And such a moment seems to have unfolded in the life of Indian cricket umpire, Saidarshan Kumar. And if not him, his childhood friend undoubtedly shared in his elation, as evidenced by a heartfelt post on social media.

The friend, known as @yov_jakie on ‘X’, shared a glimpse of Kumar from his recent appearance during the RCB vs PBKS match in the ongoing IPL 2024, fondly recalling his journey from officiating plastic ball games for them to gracing the IPL arena. “Childhood passion to realising the dream, Sai has been a great inspiration! People can’t believe when I speak about him! Plastic ball umpiring to IPL! Hope to see him soon in elite umpire list,” he penned.

This post echoed his previous one from 2021, where he lauded Kumar’s dedication, stating, “@TNPremierLeague umpire in today’s match Chepauk vs Dindugal.. Sai Dharshan Kumar is my childhood gully cricket friend.. he will never play with us and will prefer to stand as umpire.. very surprised and happy to see him pursue his passion!”

For the uninitiated, Saidarshan Kumar, a 42-year-old umpire based in Kerala, has officiated in 27 first-class (FC) cricket matches, 45 List-A matches, and over 63 T20Is, among others. He has also taken charge in 6 IPL matches.
