A Bengaluru-based cardiologist Dr Deepak Krishnamurthy recently slammed a woman for her social media post. In her post, the woman referred to non-smokers as “losers”, to which the doctor shared his perspective and added a poignant anecdote. Dr Krishnamurthy, who is the Head of Department for Interventional Cardiology at Kauvery Hospital, Marathahalli, opened up about a 23-year-old patient who required triple bypass surgery due to smoking-related health issues.

The user shared a post on X (formerly Twitter) where she is seen holding a cup of tea and a cigarette. Along with the post, she wrote, “Hey smokers and losers (non smokers) wyd?”

Retweeting her tweet, Dr. Krishnamurthy wrote, “The youngest patient I’ve sent for a triple bypass surgery was a 23y old girl smoker. #HeartAttack #MedTwitter Be a loser (as per this lady) and live healthy.”

Among the responses, one user cautioned, “One day you’ll look back on this and realise how wrong you were,” while another bluntly stated, “Factually smokers are the losers who can’t control their urges & fell for this 3rd class addiction.”
