A picture from inside an auto in Bengaluru has gone viral on social media, eliciting numerous responses from people. The viral picture shows a pamphlet hung inside a Bengaluru auto through which passengers can learn Kannada phrases while they ride.

Titled “Learn Kannada with Auto Kannadiga”, the pamphlet offers a selection of useful phrases for non-Kannadigas to communicate with auto drivers – both during the ride and outside the auto. It features sentences in Kannada translated into English through which non-Kannada speakers can communicate better in the local language. Additionally, the pamphlet features QR codes linking to video demos for better pronunciation and learning. It also includes a map of Bengaluru, an auto and a Kannada flag.

The now-viral picture was shared on X (formerly known as Twitter) by Vsalya Tandon. It carries the caption, “Very handy.” The pamphlet includes useful phrases like “Namasakara sir” (Hello, sir), “Elli idira” (Where are you?), “Ille nilsi” (stop here), “Yeshtu aaythu” (How much?), and “UPI idya? Athwa cash aa?” (Do you accept UPI or only cash?). The pamphlet also refers to auto drivers as “sir”.

The post, since being shared on X, has gone viral with over 2.2 million views and the numbers are still increasing. Many even took to the comments section to share their thoughts.
