WhatsApp always strives hard to enhance its overall user experience by adding new features to its instant messaging platform. Now, it is working on a theme feature called ‘Chat Theme’ that will enable WhatsApp users to customize the chat bubble colour. With this new feature, the tech giant aims to improve the messaging experience by allowing users greater control over their visual interface, granting them to pick their preferred colour for chat bubbles.
Although this feature is still under development on WhatsApp beta for iOS, it has been discovered in the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.17.19 update from the Google Play Store, as per a report by WABetaInfo.
WABetaInfo shared a screenshot on X (formerly Twitter) that shows WhatsApp is testing a new section in the chat theme settings. Through this customisation option, users will be able to choose a new colour for their chat bubbles and wallpapers for the default chat theme from a range of several colours. It’s worth noting that this new WhatsApp feature is scheduled for release in a future update.
Since it is a default chat theme, this feature will be set to function automatically to all our conversations, similar to default themes and message bubbles seen in other Meta-owned social media platforms including Instagram and Facebook Messenger. Once a color is selected, it will automatically set as the default chat theme, adjusting both the wallpaper and bubble color accordingly.
By granting users the ability to select their favorite theme, the company will allow WhatsApp users to tailor their messaging experience to their personal preferences and make it more engaging.
Moreover, the WABetaInfo mentioned that customising the default chat theme will only impact the user’s interface and it will not alter the appearance for others, ensuring that this customization remains personal and does not affect their messaging experience.
Meanwhile, WhatsApp’s is also rolling out several new features, a revamped interface, and a significant change to the verification tick mark colour from green to blue in the upcoming update. The change of the verification tick mark is part of Meta’s broader strategy to harmonise the visual identity across its platforms, including WhatsApp, Facebook, and Instagram.
Following the implementation of this transition, business accounts on WhatsApp will sport the blue tick mark. This update aims to create a unified look and feel across all Meta-owned platforms, making it easier for WhatsApp users to identify verified businesses, regardless of the app they are using.
