Nintendo Switch May Be Upgraded With 7-Inch OLED Display From Samsung Later This Year
It is not known as to when the new Nintendo Switch console will be announced, but Bloomberg's sources have said that it will come in time for 2021 holiday season.

Nintendo Switch is probably the best hand-held gaming device out there currently. Given the humongous success the Switch has been for Nintendo, the company is planning to release an upgraded Nintendo Switch model this year, according to a recent report in Bloomberg. The report says that Nintendo will use a 7-inch OLED display with a 720p resolution made by Samsung. The current Nintendo Switch uses a 6.2-inch LCD display, while the Switch Lite uses a 5.5-inch LCD display. Both have a 720p resolution.

According to the Bloomberg report, the new Nintendo Switch console will go into mass production in June this year. According to reports, many Nintendo Switch games struggle to hit native resolution in handheld mode, so not upgrading the resolution of the screen comes as a rather obvious decision. The Bloomberg report also says that the new Nintendo Switch models will be capable of 4K graphics when hooked to a TV and keeping the resolution at 720p in handheld mode could also be in order to preserve the battery.

It is not known as to when the new Nintendo Switch console will be announced, but Bloomberg’s sources have said that it will come in time for 2021 holiday season and that the display panels will start shipping in July. The initial monthly target is said to be “just under a million units.” And if last year’s holiday season sales are taken into consideration, Nintendo will want to manufacture as many devices as it possibly can.
