PM Modi’s visit to Lakshadweep has made the island state a viral sensation on social media this week, which has been further strengthened after the latest row with Maldives. Lakshadweep’s search results on Google have touched 20-year high, not only for India but globally as well, which shows its current popularity among people and travelers.
“PM Modi’s visit to Lakshadweep caused a significant surge in online searches about the islands. This worldwide search interest is currently at its highest in the last 20 years, indicating a renewed fascination with its natural beauty and cultural richness,” as mentioned by MyGov on social media this week.

That’s not all, even the online travel platforms have seen demand for tickets to Lakshadweep increase multifold in the last 48 hours, which suggests more people are now willing to consider going to the island state than go all the way to Maldives and spend their money in another country. Some travel sites have even decided to stop taking bookings for Maldives as the diplomatic tensions between India and the country reached new heights recently.
PM Modi’s visit to Lakshadweep has piqued people’s interest and suddenly they realise they have a Maldives-like option available within their shores, so understandably they want to explore the uncharted shores by travelling, and maybe even spending money to help the people earn their living.
