Google is trying new ways to make people search for content on the internet and mobile is the obvious target. The company is bringing AI-led features to its premium devices and Samsung is also getting a taste of these additions in a unique way.
Search is now available on mobile and for that you don’t need to actually click on search to get the details. All you have to do is draw a circle on any image to get details about the product or any item from the internet. That’s right, Google is calling it Circle to Search, and you can just circle to search, simple. If you get the Samsung phone, you can do this drawing using the S Pen that comes with the Galaxy S24 Ultra model. In addition to the circling, you can also highlight text, or even scribble on items you want to search.
Google introduced Lens to bring interactive search features to mobile and eventually to the web. But with circle to search, and the whole focus on AI, it feels like the next possible evolution for search, at least in the short term till something fancier comes out.
Even with Lens, you had to first click a screenshot and then put it through search for results. With circle to search you just have to long-press the home button to activate the feature and then mark the object or image to let Google’s AI render to do the work.
But like we said earlier, Google’s new way of search is limited to the Google Pixel 8 Pro and the Galaxy S24 models when it releases on January 31. As for the other premium Android phones, they are likely to get it later this year. We’re eager to try out this feature which will be updated in the Google app for Android and iOS users but only for those in the US.
