As Apple's latest flagship - the iPhone 7 - continues to receive bouquets and brickbats for its design overhaul or the lack of it, gadgets repair firm iFixit tore down the premium device to look what is inside, other than the absence of the headphone jack.
The firm says that the improved water and dust protection reduces the need for repairs of the iPhone 7 for accidental spills or environmental damage.
However, that has also complicated the procedure of display assembly repairs.
The teardown also highlighted a few new additions to the device including a 1334x750, LED-backlit IPS display with a P3 color gamut and 25 per cent higher brightness than that of the 6s. The new iPhone 7 also comes with a quad-LED True Tone flash that is 50 per cent brighter than the iPhone 6s.
The iFixit teardown further noticed that in place of the headphone jack, the iPhone 7 has a barometric vent which equalises the internal and atmospheric pressures in order to have an accurate altimeter.
Apple introduced two new finishes - Jet Black and Black. According to iFixit, the shiny Jet Black finish has more permanent issues with scratches. But the matte Black finish can withstand some scratches.
