Apple iOS 18 Could Feature VisionOS-Like UI Design: What We Know
VisionOS is the latest operating system from the iPhone maker, making its debut alongside the Apple Vision Pro mixed reality headset earlier this month in February.

iOS 18 has been long rumoured to mark a substantial overhaul for Apple’s iPhone models, introducing a slew of generative AI features. Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook, too, has officially confirmed that these features will be rolled out in 2024.

Adding to the speculation, there’s another rumour suggesting that the aesthetics might undergo a significant revamp as well, with Apple possibly leaning towards a design inspired by VisionOS.

For those who are not familiar, VisionOS is the latest operating system from the iPhone maker, making its debut alongside the Apple Vision Pro mixed reality headset earlier this month in February. As reported by The Verifier via 9to5Mac, iOS 18 is expected to feature visual elements inspired by VisionOS.

VisionOS already bears a resemblance to iOS with its rounded corners, shadows, and depth. It is noteworthy that similarities can also be observed with the tvOS app. Furthermore, The Verifier suggests that the redesign may extend to system menus and built-in Apple apps like Safari.

However, it’s important to note that this is currently just a rumour, and it is possible that these changes may not make their way to iOS 18. Honestly, these alterations are quite massive in scale, and this overhaul, coupled with the myriad AI features, does seem like a realistic undertaking. That being said, clarity on these matters is expected at the WWDC 2024 event.
