Apple Could Soon Help You Recover Lost Or Damaged Photos: How It Might Work
Recently, it was mentioned that recovering photos on iPhone was a bug but Apple could be about to make it a feature soon.

Apple’s iOS 18 operating system which was showcased at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2024 is reportedly coming with a big update that will let users retrieve their lost or damaged pictures/videos. As per a report by 9To5Mac, the tech giant has added a new ‘Recovered’ album to its Photo app that will show any previously lost or damaged photographs and videos on the device.

The new ‘Recovered’ album coexists with the current ‘Recently Deleted’ album. It will be available on iOS 18, iPadOS 18 and macOS Sequoia.

As per the report, the new Recovered album will only appear if your device contains any lost or damaged images, otherwise, the users won’t see this option.

How to find it? Follow these steps:

– Open the Photos App on your Apple Device

– Scroll down and click on Utilities

– Tap on Recovered and verify using Touch ID or Face ID.

– Click on any photo or video and choose to Permanently Delete or Restore to Library.

The feature is expected to identify and categorise photographs and videos on the user's device if it does not appear in the photos app. This may contain media with a corrupted database or those that are not saved in the photo library when captured.

However, it is believed to be different from the current ‘Recently Deleted’ option, which stores the deleted media in a separate folder for 30 days after deletion.

With the addition of the new Recovered album, users now have more control over ensuring that photographs and videos are completely deleted from the device. It also provides users another chance to recover their photo or video they thought was lost due to any reason.

In other news, Apple recently shared a list of India-centric iOS 18 features that millions of iPhone users will be getting later this year. Apple has stated that with the iOS 18 upgrade, iPhone users in India will see support for new Indian fonts, language input for the keyboard, and Siri becoming more capable of recognizing our vast range of languages.

Also, Apple recently released a Public Beta version of the upcoming iOS 18 operating system which allows non-developers to try out the new features before the official releases later this year.

The iOS 18 public beta introduces a slew of new features for iPhone users. This offers home screen customisation choices, a new Control Center, RCS messaging and a redesigned Photos App. The iPadOS 18 beta has similar upgrades, such as a native Calculator app. The iOS 18 is expected to be launched in September alongside the highly awaited iPhone 16 series.
