Apple Brings Panic Button to iPhones With iOS 10.2 Update
Apple has introduced Emergency SOS functionality on iPhones with new iOS 10.2 software update.

Apple has introduced Emergency SOS feature to its iPhones with the latest iOS 10.2 update. This feature is exclusive to iPhone users in India. On pressing the power/wake button three or five times (as per the setting), the iPhone will automatically call emergency services number 112.

For those unaware, the government will introduce its own 911-like emergency services number in the form of 112, starting January 1, 2017.Also read: Apple to Add Fresh Emojis to iPhone

Telecom minister Ravi Shankar Prasad had earlier announced that all mobile phones sold in the country from 2017 should come with GPS and a panic button for any emergency. The mandate required smartphone brands to add a dedicated SOS button or make 5 or 9 on the alpha-numeric keypad as an emergency button.Also read: Reliance Jio Brings Pokemon GO Augmented Reality Game to India

Users can also choose to notify emergency contacts with messages having the current location of the iPhone with this feature.

The iOS 10.2 update also bring several new Emojis along with tweaks on the multimedia front.
