With customers complaining about unable to access the money in their bank accounts and the banking system struggling to cater to their needs post the demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency notes, it is time to turn to these five fun apps made by some enterprising citizens:
Pick The New 500/2000 Notes
Developer: Frimus Technologies Pvt Ltd
Type: Game
Availability: PlayStore, App Store
This app can help you kill time while waiting in lines to withdraw/exchange your money. It’s like the Flappy Bird of demonetisation.
The notes pop up rapidly and your frantic tapping skills are put to the test. Simple, yet addictive.
InTax
Developer: Akshat Jagga
Type: Tax Calculator
Availability: App Store
If you were bamboozled by the table spelling out the tax rates on the amount you deposit, this app does all the math for you. It’s pretty straightforward - type in the amount and hit calculate. Anything below Rs 2,00,000 shows a zero, accompanied by a Bart Simpson GIF. Higher than Rs 2,00,000 gets you a Dilbert GIF. It’s fun to use this App just to see the GIFs that come with the answer - although fair warning - there are only three of them.
Exchange 500/1000 Notes
Developer: Frimus Technologies Pvt Ltd
Type: Prank
Availability: PlayStore, App Store
INR FAQ: 500 & 1000 Rupees Note Exchange
Developer: Maulik Kamdar
Type: FAQ
Availability: PlayStore, App Store
This app is a list of frequently asked questions (FAQs) about demonetisation. Topics include what to do if you're a foreign tourist, whether you can deposit in your friend’s account and if you can withdraw money using a cheque. It covers pretty much every doubt you can have about the money-changing process. Plus point: It even includes the RBI helpline number.
Black money to White money
Developer: Azad Rathod
Type: Tips & Tricks
Availability: PlayStore, App Store
This app treads a grey line on the black money issue. It features several tips and tricks on ways to convert your black money without alerting authorities. Although it has a disclaimer that 'it merely exposes loopholes in the system' and does not encourage the use of the methods, it does urge users to suggest new methods.
All these apps are plagued with advertisements, however these would help you de-stress after a long day of waiting in bank queues.
Meanwhile, an app called 'Modi Keynote' began playing the Prime Minister’s demonetisation address if you showed it your new 500 or 2000 rupee note. And just like the old 500s and 1000s removed from circulation, this app too was struck off the PlayStore!
