Actress Deivanayaki aka KR Vijaya ruled the silver screens of the 70s and 80s in Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu and Kannada movies. She kick started her career in 1963 and has been a prominent face in South cinema for almost six decades. The actress has worked with almost all major stars like Sivaji Ganesan, Gemini Ganesan and Jaishankar. Even today, she is remembered for her powerful performances. She is still working actively in the industry. Recently, KR Vijaya has become the talk of the town after an old photo of her seated on a Royal Enfield surfaced on the internet. A saree-clad KR Vijaya can be seen posing for the camera, while holding the bike’s handle. The caption read, “KR Vijaya on a Royal Enfield ensign model; Now who would have imagined.”

KR Vijaya marked her debut in 1963 with Karpagam. She has also worked in other remarkable movies like Idhaya Kamalam, Odayil Ninnu, Saraswathi Sabatham, Selvam, Nenjirukkum Varai, Iru Malargal, Namma Veettu Deivam, Dheerga Sumangali, Thangappathakkam, Thirisoolam and Ithiri Poove Chuvannapoove.
The actress was also referred to as Punnagai Arasi, which in Tamil means Queen of the Smiles. Such was her charisma on the silver screen that she became the first choice of every director and producer as lead actress. She even portrayed roles of Hindu goddesses due to her stunning looks. She has played the role of Goddess Shakti in Mel Maruvathoor Arpudhangal and later in Mahasakthi Mariamman, she portrayed Mariamman. Apart from movies, she also ventured into TV serials like Raja Rajeswari and Kudumban, which were aired in India and Sri Lanka. In her illustrative career, she has worked in more than 500 movies. She even essayed a mythological role in Sri Rama Rajyam in 2011.
In the year 2023, she has appeared in movies like Kodai, Rayar Parambarai and Moothakudi. Her fans were ecstatic to see her on the silver screen after she starred in the 2021 movie Chakra. She is currently gearing up for her upcoming movie Randam Pranayamahayudham.
