Prashanth Neel, the director of Salaar: Part One- CeaseFire, recently spoke about Prithviraj Sukumaran's directing skills for the film.

Prashanth Neel, the director of Salaar: Part One- CeaseFire, recently spoke about Prithviraj Sukumaran’s directing skills for the film, praising him and revealing his initial uncertainty about Sukumaran joining the project. Neel also mentioned that Prithviraj made valuable contributions to the film. With only three days left until the grand release of Salaar, Neel shared some interesting insights about the cast in an interview with Galatta Plus.

Speaking about Prithviraj Sukumaran’s role in the movie, Prashanth revealed, “He is not playing the second fiddle in this but, you know how it is. The hero is doing many of the things. I thought that was something that was going to be difficult to convince him about. But he loved the script.”

Prashanth praised Sukumaran, going so far as to dub him the ‘most perfect assistant director.’ “I realised fast that he was thinking like a director. He is colossal. He was like the most perfect assistant director. The kind of suggestions he made from a creative point of view. Salaar cannot be without Prithviraj”, he added.

When asked the reason behind casting Prithviraj Sukumaran, Neel said they needed an actor more than a star or anything else. “We needed a phenomenal actor for the role of Varadharaja Mannar. The friendship that we wanted to show, we wanted someone who could show both love and the hate in him,” he said.

He continued, “For a long time, we were thinking about who we should bring in. A lot of suggestions said that we have to bring in someone from the Hindi film industry. One name that kept popping in my head and I thought was a big ask was Prithviraj. And we pursued him for some time. I thought he wouldn’t agree after hearing the script.”

Salaar: Part One- CeaseFire is all set to hit the theatres on December 22.
