NCP-Congress is leading in Maharashtra.

Mumbai: Accepting its defeat in Maharashtra, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday said they had lost in Mumbai because of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS).

"We could not get more than 110 seats and we accept the defeat," said BJP leader Gopinath Munde, who led the party's campaign in the state.

Explaining the reasons for party's defeat in the state, Munde said: "We lost in Mumbai because of the MNS."

Mumbai has 36 seats.

Munde said the Congress and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) had also failed to achieve clear cut majority in the state.

"The last time, the Congress-NCP alliance got 130-132 seats but this time their tally has also gone down. So nobody has won. They got more than us but they haven't got a clear cut majority so people have not given verdict to them also," he said.

The NCP-Congress combine has leads in 135 seats of the 288 seat assembly in the state.
