Voters determine fate of over 30 key candidates in the first 4 phases
Voters have sealed the fate of stalwarts like Nitin Gadkari, Praful Patel, Mukul Wasnik, Kamal Nath and Shashi Tharoor.

New Delhi: The voters of India have already determined the fate of more than 30 key candidates in the first four phases of the Lok Sabha elections. The voters have sealed the fate of stalwarts like former BJP president Nitin Gadkari in Nagpur, Union ministers Praful Patel in Bhanda-Gondia, Mukul Wasnik in Ramtek, Kamal Nath in Chhindwara, Shashi Tharoor in Thiruvananthapuram, KV Thomas in Ernakulam, BK Handique from Jorhat and Kapil Sibal from Chandni Chowk.

Former Lok Sabha speaker PA Sangma's fate has also been sealed in Tura of Meghalaya. The fate of Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphu Rio, one of the only two serving chief ministers in the fray, has also been sealed by the voters.

Most of the star candidates faced electors in the third phase on April 10. 91 Lok Sabha seats across India voted on that day.

In Kerala, where all 20 seats went to polls on the same day, as many as six Congress leaders' fate has been determined by the voters. Union ministers Shashi Tharoor, KV Thomas, Kodikunnil Suresh, KC Venugopal, E Ahamad and Mullapalli Ramachandran were in the fray. Apart from these ministers Congress leader PC Chacko, CPM leader MA Baby, Left backed Independent candidate and Malayalam film star Innocent, BJP leader O Rajagopal, AAP candidate and international journalist Anita Pratap were also in the fray from Kerala.

The Vidarbha region of Maharashtra also went to polls in the third phase. Former BJP president Nitin Gadkari, Union minister and NCP leader Praful Patel, AICC General Secretary Mukul Wasnik and former union minister Vilas Muttemwar were in the fray in the third phase.

Nine Lok Sabha seats in Madhya Pradesh also voted in the third phase. Union minister Kamal Nath's bastion Chhindwara went to polls on that day.

Voters in the national capital Delhi, National Capital Region (NCR), Haryana and Western UP also exercised their democratic rights on that day. Union ministers Kapil Sibal, Krishna Tirath, Ajit Singh, former ministers Rao Inderjit Singh, PK Bansal, AAP leaders Yogendra Yadav, Ashutosh, Shazia Ilmi, BJP candidate General VK Singh, film stars Raj Babbar, Nagma and Jayaprada were also in the fray on April 10.

Union Territory Chandigarh witnessed an interesting triangular fight among fill actress and model Gul Panag of the AAP, Kiron Kher of the BJP and PK Bansal of the Congress.

The smallest Lok Sabha seat by votes, Lakshadweep, also went to polls on the same day. Voters of these islands have determined the fate of Congress sitting MP Hamdullah Sayeed.

In the first two phases, voters have determined the fate of lottery 'king' Moni Kumar Subba, Union minister Ninong Ering, Vincent Pala and Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi's son Gaurav Gogoi.

What stalwarts do after voting

Most of the big leaders have taken a short break. Some of them have even gone 'missing'! According to their party leaders some of them will campaign for their party candidates in the remaining phases.

There is a huge demand for film stars like Nagma, Jayaprada and Raj Babbar from other parts.

Nitin Gadkari will be campaigning for the party in rest of India. AAP leaders Yogendra Yadav and Ashutosh are likely to focus on Varanasi where their chief Arvind Kejriwal is taking on Narendra Modi.
