Kerala has not been warm to stars who cross the silver screen to enter electoral fray. Ganesh was the first actor to become an MLA in 2001.

Thiruvananthapuram: The celebrity and filmi fixation has now spread to Kerala as well. Poised for a crucial election where both the UDF and LDF are engaged in a bitter battle, all players are using star power to woo voters.

KB Ganesh Kumar, sitting MLA and actor is out to conquer the constituency for the fourth consecutive time. He admits that with two other stars pitted against him, this time it's a tough competition.

Ganesh says, "I contested with the most powerful politicians for the last three times. That time it was a very tough competition. This time also I am considering as a good competition."

To counter the three-time MLA and their friend-turned-foe, UDF has roped in actor PV Jagadish Kumar into the poll fray. Jadgish believes that it was UDF's support that helped Ganesh thrice and this time it will help him. He is out in the constituency, campaigning in full vigour and giving a tough competition to fellow actor Ganesh.

People turn up in large numbers to greet the UDF candidate and actor Jagadish Kumar. Many are happy to see and interact with him. Warm smiles, handshakes and big hugs, many are busy clicking pictures with him.

Jagadish takes his competitors especially sitting MLA Ganesh heads on and claims that there have not been many developments.

Jagadish said, "Now take the case of the roads, employment facilities, and drinking water facilities here. These are all issues that have to be sorted out. I feel that there has to be proper employment facilities, proper drinking water facilities."

BJP candidate and actor D Raghu (Bheeman Raghu) is also campaigning in the constituency. He asks people to vote for a change and also claims that there has been no development in the constituency. He promises development in every sector if he is elected. On competing with fellow actors, he says friendship is only in films and here they are politicians.

Kerala has not been warm to stars who cross the silver screen to enter electoral fray. Ganesh was the first actor to become an MLA in 2001. It remains to be seen whether Pathanapuram will stand by its MLA or usher in change. But whoever wins this time the Pathanapuram will have an actor as their MLA.
