Sohrabuddin case: Kataria files anticipatory bail plea at CBI court
Kataria has been charged for murder, destruction of evidence, abduction, criminal conspiracy among other serious IPC sections.

New Delhi: Senior BJP leader from Rajasthan Gulab Chand Kataria on Monday filed an anticipatory bail plea at CBI court in connection with the Sohrabuddin fake encounter case.

The former Rajasthan Home Minister has been named in the chargesheet filed by the CBI. Kataria is the second high profile politician to be named in the case after former Gujarat home minister Amit Shah. Kataria, presently leader of the Opposition in Rajasthan, was the state's home minister at the time of killings of Sohrabuddin Sheikh, his wife Kauser Bi and Tulsiram Prajapati.

Kataria was named in the chargesheet filed by the CBI in the Sorabuddin encounter case note. The regular judge in CBI court is on leave and so the new court has not yet been assigned. Hearing could happen tomorrow or day after, once the court is assigned.

Katariya has been charged for murder, destruction of evidence, abduction, and criminal conspiracy among other serious IPC sections. The CBI is convinced that he played a direct role in hatching the conspiracy to eliminate Sohrabuddin.

Along with the former minister, three others including two police officers from AP and an Executive Director of the Marble Company, have been chargesheeted.
