New Delhi: The special investigation team, appointed by the Supreme Court, on Friday submitted its report on Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi's role in the 2002 post-Godhra riots in the state.
The SIT has also presented documentary evidence of alleged state complicity in the riots. The report contains records of telephone calls made by the Chief Minister's office during the riots.
The SIT was looking into the role of the chief minister and senior officials in the riots after Zakia Jaffrey, wife of slain Congress leader Ehsan Jaffrey, approached the apex court last year.
Zakia had alleged that Modi had aided and abetted the riots in the Gulbarg society area of Ahmedabad.
The beleaguered BJP leader had deposed before the SIT in late March this year.
