New Delhi: Senior BJP leader LK Advani's comment wishing Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his Cabinet on Independence Day has added to the headache of the RSS. The Advani comment is seen as a criticism of Gujarat Chief Minister and BJP election campaign committee chief Narendra Modi who had taken on the Prime Minister in his Independence Day speech.
Senior RSS leaders are in a quandary on how to react to Advani's statement. He had indirectly cautioned Modi in the wake of his criticism of Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh's speech that there should be no criticism of each other on Independence Day and appealed to everyone to work towards the development of this country.
Modi had launched a scathing attack on the Prime Minister, tearing into Dr Manmohan Singh's last Independence Day speech ahead of the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. Modi said Singh's speech from the ramparts of Red Fort in Delhi reflected despair and accused him of promoting dynasty politics. He also challenged the Prime Minister to a debate on economy and the route to be taken to make India a developed nation.
Meanwhile, Congress General Secretary Digvijaya Singh also hit out at Modi in his tweet on Friday saying that Modi's hunger for power has no limits.
"On Modi's Independence Speech, I and Advani ji are on the same page. 'Modi's abrasive hunger for Power has no limits," he tweeted.
