Patna: Ahead of Congress President Sonia Gandhi's rally in Begusarai, Bihar Police with local administration had raided the hotel room of Bihar Congress-incharge Sagar Raika and Lalan Yadav (Bihar Congress youth leader) early Thursday morning and recovered Rs 6 lakh from the hotel room.

The Congress President to visit Begusarai on Thursday, ahead of assembly polls there in the fourth phase.

Interestingly, Raika was not present in the room when the cash was recovered.

Bihar Police have registered an FIR against six people but all have been released on bail.

However, this is the second Sonia rally stung by the money controversy with the earlier one in Amravati where Maharashtra's Congress state president Manikrao Thakeray and leader Satish Chaturvedi were caught on camera discussing how every minister in the state has contributed Rs 10 lakh, and that Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan has himself given Rs two crore.
