New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a rousing welcome in Bhutan on Sunday where he was received by Bhutanese Premier Tshering Tobgay, his cabinet ministers and senior government officials.
After a ceremonial guard of honour at the airport, Modi was driven in a huge convoy of vehicles to the scenic Bhutanese capital Thimpu. Enthusiastic school children, some of them carrying colourful umbrellas, lined up at various sections of the route to the capital, waving the flags of the two neighbours.
Children welcomed the Indian PM by singing a song specially written for him. Following is the text:
Welcome! Your Excellency Prime Minister Modi,
Amongst many countries in the world.
You have chosen to visit Bhutan,
Showcasing the importance attached to the close ties
between Bhutan and India
And the excellent relationship between our leaders
For this kind gesture, we are very grateful.
People of India.

the start of this special journey
