Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan was sworn-in as Chief Minister of Maharashtra and NCP's Ajit Pawar his deputy on Thursday.

Mumbai: Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan was sworn-in as chief minister of Maharashtra and NCP's Ajit Pawar his deputy on Thursday.

Outgoing deputy chief minister Chhagan Bhujbal, RR Patil, Ganesh Naik, Jayant Patil, Laxman Dhoble, Jaidutt Kshirsagar and Sunil Tatkare were among the others who also took oath of office and secrecy at a function held at Raj Bhawan.

Governor K Sankaranarayanan administered the oath of office and secrecy.

Outgoing Chief Minister Ashok Chavan, who was forced to quit over his alleged role in the Adarsh housing scam and Union minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, were also present.

Earlier, 64-year-old Prithviraj Chavan visited 'Varsha', the official residence of his predecessor in south Mumbai.

On the other hand, NCP chief Sharad Pawar held discussions with his nephew Ajit, 51, on composition of the NCP ministry list.
