New Delhi: NCP supremo Sharad Pawar on Sunday stepped up his attack on Narendra Modi, saying the BJP Prime Ministerial candidate is "dreaming" of becoming Hitler and asked people to foil his "attempt" in the Lok Sabha polls.
"Someone is dreaming to become Hitler in this country. We shouldn't allow such forces to succeed. We must foil his attempt in this elections," he tweeted, without naming Modi.
Pawar, the Union Agriculture Minister, also took a dig at the Gujarat Chieef Minister in connection with his remarks on Quit India Movement.
"According to NaMo, Gandhiji launched Quit India Movement from Wardha.... Thank god he didn't say that it was launched from Ahmedabad...!"
Attacking BJP on women's reservation, Pawar also tweeted, "We want to give 50% reservation to women in legislature. BJP leaders always made fun of it in private. How will they run this nation...?"
Modi is under attack from several non-BJP leaders during the course of the high voltage Lok Sabha campaign. Congress President Sonia Gandhi has accused Modi of indulging in divisive politics by "sowing seeds of poison" while party vice president Rahul Gandhi accused him of practicing "politics of anger".
BSP chief Mayawati has called Modi a slayer of humanity while West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee termed him as a person "with stain of riots on his hands", and said he can never become the prime minister of the country.
Odisha Chief Minister and BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik has also described Modi as a "controversial" prime ministerial candidate who is not "healthy" for the country due to his communal background.
Samajwadi Party(SP) supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav has also targeted Modi in connection with the 2002 Gujarat riots.
