No trial of Advani on Babri for now: CBI told

Lucknow: The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court has dismissed a plea, filed by the CBI, seeking direction for continuing criminal proceedings against 21 BJP leaders including L K Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi, in the Babari mosque demolition case.

The CBI had approached the court asking for the cases to be reopened. But in a temporary reprieve to Advani and others, the court said they can not be charged with the actual conspiracy to demolish the mosque until other cases against them are complete.

The court said that cases on Babri demolition are already on against the leaders in a lower court in Rae Bareilly.
