Mumbai: The Shiv Sena and the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) are likely to enter into a pre-poll alliance for the Nanded municipal elections. The elections to the civic body is slated for October.
This is for the first time that Raj Thackeray's MNS and the Shiv Sena, whose supremo is his uncle Bal Thackeray, will enter into an alliance for any elections.
While the local units of both the parties have agreed on the alliance, a final call on the issue is yet to be taken.
Notably, if the Shiv Sena and the MNS come together ahead of the Maharashtra Assembly elections in 2014, it could definitely be a game changer in the state politics.
The MNS was floated by Raj Thackeray following a dispute over succession in the Shiv Sena. However, of late, there has been a thaw in relations with Raj even going to meet his rival, Shiv Sena executive president, Uddhav Thackeray, in hospital.
