Hyderabad: The Praja Rajyam Party of actor-turned politician Chiranjeevi today entered into an alliance with Mana party, a political outfit representing the backward classes in Andhra Pradesh.
“We are aligning with Mana Party to carry forward our philosophy of social justice,” PRP general secretary Allu Aravind said at a press conference here today.
Mana party was founded by Kasani Gnaneshwar, a member of the state Legislative Council. He was earlier with the Telugu Desam Party and is former Chairman of Ranga Reddy Zilla Parishad.
He quit TDP, following differences with another senior leader T Devender Goud of the same district, and launched Mana Party which, which he claims represents over 90 BC castes in the state.
Aravind said they have offered Gnaneshwar the Chevella Lok Sabha seat in the April 16 election. Though a formal announcement of his candidature has not yet been made, Gnaneshwar will contest against Union Urban Development Minister S Jaipal Reddy.
Gnaneshwar said his party too was working for social justice and hence decided to align with the PRP that was also striving for the same cause.
“Social justice will rule the state in a month from now,” he said.
