New Delhi: 3:55 pm: Finance Minister P Chidambaram speaks on rupee, economy in the Lok Sabha. He says rupee has overshot its true value, Correction in rupee will take place and a number of measures are being taken to ensure it finds its correct value. On economy, he says it is going through period of stress; growth in first quarter is disappointing.

13:10 pm: Janata Dal United chief Sharad Yadav speaks on economy, market and people spending on gold in the Lok Sabha. He says the government is not taking concrete steps to improve the economy. If the government focused on agricultural growth, the situation would be much better.

11:49 am: Lok Sabha members raise the raise issue of dengue outbreak in Delhi. BJP leader Yogi Adityanath says children continue to die despite ministries assurance and over 200 children have died as no vaccination has been done this year. He adds there is a shortage of medicine and the promises made to control the disease have not been met.

New Delhi: The Monsoon Session of Parliament is likely to be extended by a day sources said on Thursday. The Cabinet Committe on Parliamentary Affairs is expected to meet today to decide on the extension of the session.

The RTI Amendment Bill, aimed at keeping political parties out of RTI ambit, is likely to be discussed in the Lok Sabha on Thursday. The Judges Appointment Bill is likely to be taken up by the Rajya Sabha on Thursday.

The Land Bill was passed by Parliament and The Pensions Bill, which will allow 49 per cent FDI in pension and insurance sector, was passed in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday.

While Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had also appealed to the BJP to end Parliament stand-off over missing coalgate files, there are crucial bills that are pending in the remaining two days of this session, which was extended till September 6.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kamal Nath had on Wednesday indicated that the session may be extended further as key bills remain pending. "If the need be we can extend the monsoon session of Parliament. Key legislations are pending, we hope the parties will cooperate," Kamal Nath had said.
