New Delhi: Rashtriya Janata Dal supremo and former Bihar chief minister Lalu Prasad, back in the tumultuous world of politics, pledged himself to an unconditional tie up with the Congress in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections while taking on the Bharatiya Janata Party and Janada Dal United. RJD and Congress had contested the last two Lok Sabha elections together.
At his combative best, Lalu claimed his party will not let down the country and will fight against communal forces "led by Narendra Modi who has hatred for minorities". The RJD chief said Muslims have the same rights on the country as the Hindus while alleging that Modi, the BJP prime ministerial candidate, was being supported by industrialists backed by some foreign forces.
"Narendra Modi is a threat to Indian unity. Narendra Modi is no one, it is the RSS and the Nagpur links. There is a psychological war. Modi is being supported by some industrialists supported by international forces," he said while addressing the media at Patna's 10 Circular Road, the residence of Rabri Devi.
While calling Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar an opportunist, Lalu said that he was not a factor in the state.
Lalu, convicted and sentenced to five years in jail in a fodder scam case, was released on bail from a Ranchi jail after almost two and a half months.
