New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party has run into fresh trouble with Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal facing flak for appointing Swati Maliwal, the wife of a party colleague, as the new head of the Delhi Commission for Women.
Opposition parties have accused Kejriwal of indulging in nepotism and double standards. Maliwal is currently Kejriwal's advisor on grievances and is also the wife of AAP leader Naveen Jaihind.
Former AAP leader Prashant Bhushan slammed the move saying AAP is making political appointments on key posts just like the Congress and BJP did earlier. Kejriwal had earlier made his trusted aide Ashish Khetan the chief of Delhi Dialogue Commission.
The move is being seen by critics as a contravention of AAP's earlier stand of not making political appointments. Kejriwal has been at loggerheads with outgoing DCW chief Barkha Shukla on various issues.
