Karnataka: Karnataka Labour Minister P T Parameshwar Naik has stoked a controversy after he was caught making claims of tranferring Deputy Superintendent of Police in a video footage.
The footage was said to be taken at a party workers meeting held in Hadagali assembly constituency on Tuesday. The video has gone viral in the social media.
Left wing students groups and Kannada organisations have given a call for Bandh demanding resignation of minister P Parameshwar Naik.
It is learnt that Labour minister Parameshwar Naik got Bellary Deputy Superintendent of Police (DYSP) Anupama Shenoy transferred. The reason behind her ouster was putting on hold his phone-call when he wanted to enquire about a murder case. The minister was recently seen boasting about the incident saying the DYSP put his call on hold for 47 seconds and hence he got her transferred.
"For me, the party workers are important and not officials. I spoke to her over the phone for 42 seconds and after that when I tried again, she did not respond. This was the reason why I got her transferred. Why do we need officials who do not listen to the District Minister," he is heard saying in the video footage.
Last week , a DYSP officer Anupama Shenoy had been transferred from Bellary to a neighboring district , at the behest of a minister in Siddaramaiah cabinet while the government had earlier said it was merely an administrative decision.
