Karnataka: BJP MLA Jeevaraj faces rape charges, FIR registered
According to reports, the alleged rape took place at Kesakki village of Chikmagalur district in May 2010.

Bangalore: In a very embarrassing development for the Opposition BJP, the police have registered a case of rape against its MLA DN Jeevaraj. A well known face in Karnataka BJP, Jeevaraj is an MLA from Shringeri in Chikmagalur district. The rape case has been registered at NR Pura police station in the same district.

According to reports, the alleged rape took place at Kesakki village of Chikmagalur district in May 2010. Jeevaraj was a minister in the previous BJP government in the state. He has refused to react to the media. According to a local TV channel, he has dismissed all allegations against him calling it a political conspiracy. Jeevaraj was re-elected in the May 2013 Assembly polls.

An FIR has been registered under the IPC sections of 366, 354, 376 and 506. The local inspector Krishnamurthy has also confirmed the registration of an FIR in a rape case against the BJP MLA.

The allegations of sexual misconduct and rapes have been haunting the state BJP for the past few years. A minister in the BS Yeddyurappa government Haratalu Halappa has been chargesheeted in a rape case, took place in early 2010. Another minister MP Renukacharya had also faced similar allegations.
