New Delhi: Vivekananda Reddy, brother of late Andhra Pradesh chief minister YS Rajashekhara Reddy on Sunday met United Progressive Alliance Chairperson Sonia Gandhi as the Congress tries to checkmate Jagan Mohan Reddy ahead of the Andhra cabinet expansion in New Delhi.
Vivekananda Reddy is reportedly seeking a ministerial berth for himself. Sources say he is part of the Congress strategy to counter rebel leader Jagan Mohan Reddy, who has been giving the party a hard time. Earlier report said that Jagan is all set to float his own party.
The Congress is yet to decide on what action to take against Jagan whose channel Sakshi TV featured a programme attacking Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and also Rahul Gandhi.
He had earlier stated that the rebel Congress MP and his nephew Jagan Mohan Reddy will meet Congress leadership. However, Jagan supporters had categorically denied the claims of Vivekanand.
