New Delhi: Continuing its offensive against Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, BJP on Monday asked the Delhi Lokayukta to initiate a thorough probe against her in the wake of alleged irregularities cited by the CAG and the Shunglu Committee in certain CWG projects.
Twenty-four BJP MLAs, led by leader of the opposition Vijay Kumar Malhotra, called on Lokayukta Justice Manmohan Sarin and requested him to initiate probe taking suo motu cognisance of findings by both CAG and Shunglu committee.
The party also handed over reports of both CAG and the Prime Minister appointed panel which probed the irregularities in organisation of the Games.
The BJP has been demanding resignation of Dikshit as well as framing of charges against her by CBI in the wake of CAG indictment of her for certain irregularities.
The party has forcefully raised the issue and disrupted proceedings in the monsoon session of the assembly following which they were suspended from the House last week for remaining period of the session. The session came to an end on Monday.
"The CAG has found glaring evidence of Dikshit's involvement in the irregularities. She has been found guilty by even Shunglu committee appointed by the Prime Minister. We will not relent till she steps down," said Malhotra.
In a severe indictment of Dikshit, the CAG cited her "active involvement" in the grant of a work that incurred a loss of Rs 30 crore while slamming her government on some projects that led to a loss and escalation of costs of nearly Rs 500 crore.
