India demands apology, warns of non-cooperation after Pak envoy meets separatists
The cancellation of the talks will be a major setback to the diplomatic process between the two neighbours.

New Delhi: The Pakistan High Commissioner to India's meeting with separatist leaders from Jammu & Kashmir has definitely not gone down well with India. Not just has it cancelled secretary level talks with Pakistan over the matter, it has also demanded an apology, say sources.

"Government expects unequivocal apology from Pakistan, cannot expect goodwill gestures in the midst of such acts," the sources told CNN-IBN.

The sources further said that if Pakistan continued to repeat such acts, India is likely to step up non-cooperation with it.

After the much criticised meet between Pakistan High Commissioner and separatist leaders from J&K took place in New Delhi, India called off the secretary level talks with Pakistan which was scheduled for later in August.

The cancellation of the talks will be a major setback to the diplomatic process between the two neighbours.
