Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who celebrated his birthday on Wednesday, announced in a special video that he will be giving away white T-shirts, a regular piece of garment he is well-known for wearing.

Thanking his well-wishers in a post on X, Rahul explained why he always wears a white polo T-shirt, stating that it “symbolises transparency, solidity, and simplicity.”

In the video message, he said, “My heartfelt thanks to all of you for your birthday wishes. I am often asked why I always wear a ‘white T-shirt’ – this T-shirt symbolises transparency, solidity and simplicity for me.”

The Congress MP from Raebareli also posed a question to his supporters, “Where and how useful are these values ​​in your life? Use #WhiteTshirtArmy and tell me in a video. And, I will gift you a white T-shirt.”

“Lots of love to everyone,” he ended his video message.

Rahul Gandhi celebrated his 54th birthday on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the Congress party was in high spirits and celebrated the senior leader’s birthday. Delhi Congress president Devender Yadav and other party leaders submitted copies of the Constitution along with a cover letter to 54 BJP MPs, including Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.

“The people of the country and Delhi elected you to Parliament by adhering to the Constitution. The people of the country, including Delhi, appeal to you to raise your voice inside Parliament from time to time for the protection of the Constitution,” the cover letter read.

Additionally, the Indian Youth Congress (IYC) distributed air coolers to shelter home dwellers in Delhi on the occasion of Gandhi’s birthday amid the sweltering heatwave in the national capital. The IYC distributed around 70 coolers to people at their office in central Delhi.

“On the birthday of Rahul Gandhi, in view of the intense heat and heat wave in Delhi, air coolers were distributed to the shelter homes of the city, along with this we also distributed copies of the Constitution to the people and also organised cold water service in many districts of Delhi,” IYC president Srinivas BV stated.

IYC national general secretary in-charge Coco Padhi stated that on this occasion, many social programs like blood donation camps and tree planting programs have been organised by all state units of the Youth Congress across the country.

Gandhi, who was also former Congress president, has instructed all party workers to avoid any grand celebrations and instead celebrate this occasion by engaging in humanitarian efforts and charity.
