Guj Cong minority chief calls Modi a 'rogue'
BJP's state media convener Harshad Patel said the party would approach the Election Commission soon.

Ahmedabad: Joining the slugfest by his party colleagues against Narendra Modi, Gujarat Congress Minority Cell President Khurshid Syed called him a "rogue", to which BJP has threatened to approach the Election Commission.

"Earlier in 2009, LK Advani had dreamt of becoming the Prime Minister of the country. His dreams could not be fulfilled and again a lafanga (rogue) from Gujarat is contesting," Syed said while addressing the workers of Congress minority cell of Narmada, Vadodara and Rajpipla districts which fall under Chhota Udepur constituency, in Ahmedabad recently.

He said that a person should be moderate, sensitive and qualified to become the Prime Minister of the country.

"A person should be sensitive as well as qualified to get the country's top post. A Prime Minister should be like Jawaharlal Nehru," he said.

However, calling it "frustration" of Congress party and their leaders, BJP's state media convener Harshad Patel said, "We will look into the issue and will approach the Election Commission soon."

This unparliamentary words are coming out of their (Congress leaders) frustration, Patel added.

Defending his party leader, Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee president Arjun Modhvadia told PTI that there was no question of taking any action against Syed.

"In politics, we should refrain from using a Modi-brand language, like he (Modi) uses the words 'Shehzada' (for Rahul Gandhi). Such type of language should not be used," Modhvadia said.

When asked about it, Naran Rathwa, Congress candidate from Chhota Udepur Lok Sabha seat said he had left the venue just before Syed had made the jibe.

"The workers' meet was held the day before yesterday to support us (Congress), but I had left the venue before he started his speech," Rathwa said adding party leaders should be careful about their speech and should try to avoid any unnecessary controversies.
