Jaipur: Eight sitting MPs, including former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje's son Dushyant and her arch political rival and Leader of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha Jaswant Singh's son Manvendra, are being refielded in the May 7 Lok Sabha elections in Rajasthan from their respective constituencies by the BJP.
Garam Dharam (Actor Dharmendra) fell victim to new delimitation as his Bikaner constituency has now been reserved for SC, Sitting MP from Kota Raghubir Singh Kaushal, former party state president has been dropped by the party.
Both Dushyant and Manvendra will seek second successive terms from Jhalawar and Barmer Parliamentary constituencies. The saffron party has announced candidates on 12 of the 25 Lok Sabha seat from Rajasthan, in the first list released by the party in New Delhi on Friday.
While six time MP from Jaipur, Giridhari Lal Bhargava (72) is the oldest contestant seeking his successive seventh term from the Pink City, Dushyant is the youngest at age of 35.
Four new faces figured in the first list, IAS officer Arjun Ram Meghwal, presently working as Additional Commissioner(Commercial Taxes) is being fielded from Bikaner(SC) in place of Actor Dharmendra.
Likewise, an Executive Engineer in State government service Shyam Sharma has been fielded from Kota in place of party veteran and former state president Raghubir Singh Kaushal, Homeopath Dr Manoj Rajoria gets ticket from Dholpur-Karauli(R) and Naguar Zila Pramukh Ms Bindu Chaudhary is being fielded from Nagaur.
Other sitting MPs refielded are Nihal Chand eghwal (Ganganagar-SC), Jaswant Bishnoi(Jodhpur), VP Singh (Bhilwara), Pushp Jain (Pali) and Ramsingh Kaswan(Churu).
Presently the BJP holds 21 of the 25 Lok Sabha seats from Rajasthan and remaining four are held by the Congress.
