New Delhi: Continuing protest against hike in railway fare and freight charges, Delhi Congress leaders on Monday held a demonstration in the city, leading to traffic jam in Viswas Nagar area of east Delhi for several hours.

The Congress workers sat on dharna on a road and also broke the police barricade.

The protestors, led by DPCC chief Arvinder Singh Lovely, senior leader Haroon Yusuf, raised slogans against the BJP led government at the Centre for increasing the railway fare and freight charges.

"The hike in the freight charges will result in all-round price rise. Prices of pulses, fruits, vegetables and other essential commodities will increase sharply," DPCC chief spokesperson Mukesh Sharma said.

Yusuf said Congress is against such "anti-people" rail fare hike by the Narendra Modi Government.
