An FIR has been filed by suspended BJP lawmaker Dayashankar Singh's family against BSP supremo Mayawati accusing her of intimidation and promoting enmity.

Singh had referred to Mayawati as a "prostitute".

Reacting to the news of FIR, Senior BSP leader Nasimuddin Siddiqui asked, "What wrong has BSP done? Our leader has been abused, BSP workers did not speak a word wrong."

SP leader Gaurav Bhatia meanwhile said that they strongly condemn Dayashankar's remarks although they had asked the BSP to avoid making it a political issue.

"Whatever happened after that has affected common people, BSP is now using derogatory language, even now it is not too late for both parties to stop making politics out of all this. We should let law take its course, whoever is guilty will be booked under law," Bhatia told CNN News18.

Earlier Singh's wife had accused the BSP workers of abusing her and her daughter and an FIR was filed against the party workers in this regard.
